What's your colour?

Taken from:

http://www.niftytricks.com/numbers/color.htm

This is a very common trick (you've probably seen it before) we used to play on people in school. Follow the following steps and depending on the number you are left with at the end I will tell you the colour you chose to start with.
Once you are done please try and figure out the funda behind how it works. I've been trying to understand it for some time now.

Lets go then. Take a sheet of paper and a pen.

Write any 3 digit number on the paper. It should not contain any zeroes.

Choose a colour from the following:

1. Red
2. Yellow
3. Green
4. Blue
5. White
6. Black
7. Pink
8. Violet
9. Brown

Write this colour as well as the number associated with it on the paper.

Add 11 to this number. Write it on the paper.

Multiply it with the number you chose in the beginning. Write it on the paper.

Now you have a total of 4 numbers written on the paper.

Add the first, third and the last numbers. Write the sum down.

Add the digits of this number.

Repeat the last step until you are left with a single digit number.

Subtract this number from 10.

Now click HERE and enter your number in the box. Your browser must allow scripts for this to work correctly.
